Description
Outwardly, our half cab is a faithful replica of the original piece. It has several major improvements. First, it is fully finished inside. By incorporating a complete interior liner, it reduces noise, and provides various mounting locations for speakers and interior lighting. The way it is constructed, it can be installed w/ over center latches eliminating the 20+ bolts and nuts used on the original. Unlike other fiberglass versions , it has a full drip rail like the original. The partial drip rail version made by some caused a point of failure from stress in the upper rear door corners. It is Sold minus rubber and glass.
The way this half cab was designed does not allow for the OEM style rubber window gasket to be used. The lip that is used on a steel half cab became a bonding seam for our inner and outer skins, thus making it pretty thick. Mike’s thoughts were for the window to be glued in, with urethane, like a modern windshield is. The inner liner also interferes with the windshield wiper motor bracket. This can be handled in numerous ways such as: spacing the bracket out roughly 1/2-3/4″(probably the easiest option), cutting the bracket and bending it down 1/4-1/2″ and re-welding, some guys have unbolted the bracket and motor, flipped the bracket upside down and put it back together. Another option is to notch the fiberglass headliner to allow for clearance.
It is hand laid using premium low shrinkage resin and a sandable grey primer gelcoat. Scuff w/ fine scotch brite, Prime, wet sand, and shoot any one, two, or multi stage paint system and color of your choice.

Overall a nice looking top. But be aware that the lip around the area for the back glass is too thick to install using a gasket. Glass must be glued in. Also be aware that the opening is larger than factory measurements and a factory glass or one cut from a factory pattern is going to be too small.
